STEP 1 : WEEK 2 PLANNING AND GROUP COORDINATION

i)    GROUP FORMATION

            Soft Skills relate to how you work. Soft skills are a combination of people skills, social skills, communication skills, character or personality traits, attitudes, spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence, time management and empathy among others. At first, we are forming a group according to the instructions of our lecturer Madam Anita Abdul Rani. Our group consists of different races and genders from nationwide. Our class representative Lily was assigned by lecturer to divide us into groups according to the number on the list of students for the subject soft skills section 14P. We are gathered here to discuss the project concept and the understanding of the project. The main objective for this project is to recognize one current issue discovery happened.

A WhatsApp group named "Softskills Group12" was created by a member Felicia Yap on 26th October 2020, and the link is shared to the Soft Skills 14P, the leading group. We get to know our new friends from different faculties and programs in this new group's formation. Our group members consist of 5 members. This WhatsApp group is created to make it easier to communicate with each other members.

 

CREATE GROUP NAME

      First of all, all members greet each other and introduce ourselves. We introduced ourselves by telling our names, nicknames, age and where we are from. Then, we decide to name our group and one of our group member, Vishnu suggested that we can name our group as one of the smartphone companies. After that, Ikhwan gave some opinions and recommended some brands such as Samsung, Vivo, Apple, Oppo, Redmi, Google Pixel, and others. After several suggestions we made up our group name which is Samsung. According to Samsung's founder, the meaning of the Korean word Samsung is "three stars". The word "three" represents something "big, numerous and powerful" while "stars" means everlasting or eternal, like stars in the sky. We found that our group members have unique skills and ideas, most importantly we always try give our best in accomplish anything and thrive for success. We are happy and so proud to be a part of this group .

This conversation in our group is about how we get introduce ourselves and having fun getting to know our new friends. We hope we look forward to working together with this group to resolve issues or discuss issues related to a matter. This is because teamwork is an important role to form a strong group and also teaches how to be respectfully and confidently express their ideas and opinions effectively in group. Each group member had their own strengths and weaknesses thus creating a group that is unique and able to cope with any difficulties. These are the names of each member, followed by their own strengths and weaknesses.

1.      MUHAMMAD IKHWAN NIZAM BIN BAHARUDIN (LEADER)

• STRENGTH = Social activist, try something new, like to learn other languages
• WEAKNESS = Not good in English, Easily forget things.

 

2.      VISHNU KUMAAR A/L GANESAN (SECRETARY)

• STRENGTH = Friendly, optimist, love sports and willing to learn something new.
• WEAKNESS = Shy at first, sometimes a bit lazy and procrastinate.

 

3.      FELICIA YAP (BLOGGER)

• STRENGTH = Love arts, Creative, Focused and would like to finish work as soon as possible.
• WEAKNESS = Sometime no patience, Not good in public speaking.

 

4.      MUHAMMAD AIZU ZAHIN ALIF BIN KAMALUDIN (DOCUMENT MANAGER)

• STRENGTH =  Hard Work, Love to do something new and seek new experiences in life.
• WEAKNESS =  Less Fluent In English And Sometimes Easy To Forget.

 

5.      NURZULHANANI BINTI ZULKARNAIL (EDITOR)

• STRENGTH =  Friendly and easy going
• WEAKNESS = Can’t memorize something in a short time and struggling to talk in English.

ii)    ASSIGN TASK TO EACH GROUP MEMBER:

Ø  GROUP LEADER

After we get to know each other in the WhatsApp group and our group name was given, we decided to appoint each member of the group. In this discussion, Muhammad Ikhwan Nizam Bin Baharudin volunteered as a group leader while Vishnu volunteered to be the secretary of our group. Then, our group leader Ikhwan came up with creative idea on giving every member a unique roles. As our every team members are very talented in certain things, such as Felicia is really good at bullet journaling where she list down all the sub tasks while Hanani knows to manage and divide tasks whereas Aizu keep providing informative materials, our group progress very quick as we can finish every tasks on time. This makes us a strong and a happy team. As the saying "teamwork makes the dreamwork" ; it is a real thing though.

iii)  GROUP COORDINATION AND INFORMATION + CID TOPIC SELECTION

On the same day, Nurzulhanani, Felicia, and Vishnu have suggested 11 Current Issue Discovery (CID). On 29th October 2020, we have a discussion on voting the CID topics and Cyberbullying got the highest votes which are 4 votes. On 31st October 2020, Vishnu suggest each of us find 3 points for each reason which we can get from the CID guidelines while Felicia suggests 1 point is enough for each. Ikhwan reminds all the members to check information in Kalam. Nurzulhanani helps to list out what we should do for task 2 by following the CID guidelines.

All 5 members suggest 1 point for the reasons we choose for this topic, the importance of knowing cyberbullying, the implication of cyberbullying if it is not solved, provide statistical data, and etc. On 6th November 2020, we vote for the best answer and each of us takes one idea for further elaboration. Ikhwan distributes our work where Ikhwan takes the impact of cyberbullying, Nurzulhanani will do on the importance of knowing cyberbullying, Vishnu doing solution, Felicia takes implication if cyberbullying not solved and Aizu finds the data statistics about cyberbullying. On 18th November 2020, we did task 1 which is introduced ourselves about our strengths and weakness and we sent the elaboration idea that each of us done in the Whatsapp group. On December 7, Vishnu as secretary has created a blog with the link samsungsoftskill.blogspot.com and all of the members can access this blog by our own email address. Vishnu also filled the google form about the group issue/topic. Nurzulhanani further explains the steps in our portfolio and make it clear so that all the members understand our task. On 10th Dec, Nurzulhanani then created a google document for step 2 so that all the members can access it. She then asks Vishnu and Ikhwan to fill in our group portfolio. She also assigned Felicia to do word documents for Step 1 and Aizu to assists Felicia. This is a summary of the discussion from 26 October 2020 to 10 December 2020.
